Sex, drugs, violence. There are some issues that are stark right or wrong, black or white. But not this one. Certainly not this one. Before the prosecution jumps the gun, if its acceptable to say so, and calls it a hate crime, the defense would assert that the baseless, heinous indictment itself should be punishable.
This was the opening statement of George Zimmerman’s lawyer. Or it could have been. Every citizen of every race was involved in this case. Diss the democrats, piss on the system, wear the flag as your underwear, parody public icons, upload a mimickery of Sarah Palin, rap your frustration in a new single, shred down politicos in late night shows and it was all allowed; but when it came to the two races; tacitly in a cold genocide, America was never a free nation.
It was like the most taboo satire taking place in an open theatre. Mind the analogy as there is absolutely nothing ludicrous about this one. But it certainly seemed like a sick joke. A white man shooting a black one. The history, facts, truth, trial all took in a melodramatic gasp with just that being exposed. The public on polls, protests, and papers all had their own point of views. Even President Obama couldn’t stop himself; a needless heedless comment right before the trial perhaps. He really should have maintained diplomatic border relations. The jury should have consisted of 6 blacks and 6 whites, if the issue was ever about racial violence!
Even after the verdict, the surveys continued: being broken down into states, regions, then race. The great African – American Divide (hyphen intended ) appears greener, sometimes on that side of protests and sometimes on the facing side, eventually ending in a grey ground. Or was it stand your ground? The self-defense law may just need to be defended from itself after this.
