Coats of Confusion

We all know there are opposing viewpoints on each and every subject of life. But when there are two answers, then it just becomes all an utter confusion.

This is a quote about the future: “You can't change the past, but you can ruin the present by worrying about the future” . The understanding of this would be to simply live for today and you sort of absorb this into you but then when you come across this other quote then you fall into an uncertainty. Charles F Kettering writes: “My interest is in the future because I am going to spend the rest of my life there”, which is basically saying that there is nothing as important than the coming tomorrow. I mean obviously I am one of those people who are influenced by great men who have something to contribute to the world, even if by words. But who do we listen to here?

Let’s take a more concerning issue now. Life. Albert Einstein said “Only a life lived for others is a life worthwhile”. Straight and simple. Live for others. If Einstein says it, it must true! But wait. What’s this? Neal Peart here states “Live for yourself -- there's no one else more worth living for. Begging hands and bleeding hearts will only cry out for more”. As if we already didn’t realize that life is not this simple. So who do we follow with this one? Make life lived for others or for your own self?

Let’s forget this and talk about love. Wow. Barbara De Angelis says “Love is a choice you make from moment to moment”. Fair enough. Love might just happen because of your own decision made. Hold on there. John Dryden now says that “Love is not in our choice but in our fate” or how about this one: "Meeting you was fate, becoming your friend was a choice, but falling in love with you was beyond my control". I mean now there are two against one but is this all really about a side winning with the most tally or is this a battle of words?

Confusion. Confusion. Confusion. Who do we listen to and who do we get inspired by? Quotes, as we all know, are the rays of inspiration, the drops of confidence on your mind and soul but when we come across quotes on the same topic but opposing recommendations, it just becomes really hard to soak up the information. When the most important issued like life, love and the future are so perplexing, is there any need to move on to the smaller topics?

Here are some more quotes to 'guide' you...

-ROBERT JAMES WALLER: Life is never easy for those who dream.

Vs.

-ANAIS NIN: Dreams are necessary to life.

-OVID: All things change; nothing perishes.

Vs.

-HENRY DAVID ThOREAU: Things do not change; we change.

-ALLAN K. CHALMERS: The Grand essentials of happiness are: something to do, something to love, and something to hope for.

Vs.

-FREDERICK DELIUS: There is only one real happiness in life, and that is the happiness of creating.
