Day 1 of 21.

It’s my first day being 21. It’s still soaking in.
Yes birthdays are about pool parties and movie crashers and disco dancing and spending sprees and being ‘under the influence’ . My birthday had a touch of all that, in my-own-birthday way.
There wasn’t a minute off the phone. Continuous in-comings felt like being woken up by glitter-confetti sprinkling on your face from the ceiling. Right a little before midnight until 3-4 hours that morning then again from the time calls woke me up in the actual morning. All my friends and family and acquaintances called from all parts of the world at all times, was even better than Ben&Jerry’s chocolate chip pint or the strawberry waffles with fresh hot sauce at Waffle House.
The cake, the messages, the gifts, the dinner where we laughed and ate like never before and the gathering with all my loved ones beats any drunken bash. Being away from my sweetheart friends never actually hit me. Their voices and them going “Oh that sounds so nice!” over everything you tell them cut the distance short. And who doesn’t like wishes. I got them from those I were close-knit with, those who were pure darlings, from those whose voices I didn’t recognize at first, and from those I was totally cheerily surprised to hear.

And then there is the US where its still my birthday. And what I got from my brother.
