Time where my desktop wallpapers have changed from sunny summers to wintry photographs. From wearing straps and shorts to now cozy caps and woolen socks, from knocking back chilled aerated beverages to now slurping coffee and hot chocolate, its officially winter!
Even though there are no wood furnaces or there isn’t the slightest scope of snow-mans or snowflakes, there still are the snow cones, the leather coats, the steaming soup and all the winter goodies! My meal plans have changed, shower times have delayed, and the sleeping in has crossed its highest ever!
December ribbons down so many occasions to celebrate for. Just recently having celebrated parents’ 25 wedding anniversary: which was a platinum gala filled with photos and gifts and flowers and food and decorations and gifts. Of course we had the custom dinner at that fancy hotel as always for any occasion although the day was totally personalized. The western touch was just the ending.
They came home after cutting a big red ribbon outside the door to a home fully decorated. And then I switched on the lights. And everything went according to plan. Those 25 gifts, the enormous card, the cake and so many other delights!! Their honeymoon picture, enlarged, a photo memoir with all those memories they shared, we shared the last 25 years, the candles all over the living room, the chocolate bits in every space….even I was impressed with myself. J
The sentimental, schmaltzy, moist look on my parent’s eyes, I will never be able to write. It was priceless. I think we all shed a tear away from each other.
And why not. In that photo memoir were also the photos where I was just a couple years old and my birthday bashes those times were as good as any today. And its been like this: all birthdays, their anniversary, mother/father’s days, their profession-day et all are ALWAYS celebrated to. It’s a family thing that I am so so so very proud of. And the best part is that distance never hindered this tradition. I rather brag about this than a fancy dinner at an expensive restaurant that everyone else has all the time. That we had.
